The divine meaning and use of family is the topic, today, along with more on resurrection of the body. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “A British Atheist” (Level 5 with 7,479 points, a member since April 26, 2012) posted the following:

Christians, why are you not protecting these family values?

We hear of so many Christians claiming “Marriage is a god given union for man and woman”. Yet for some reason you seem to miss out a few other family values that God has given.

Let’s take a look at them:

Deu 21:10-13 States men are allowed to take beautiful women from war and marry them.

Deu:15-17 Describes how to handle more than one wife in a marriage.

Deu 25: States a wife must marry her husband’s brother in law if her husband dies.

Now so many of you are going to claim that these are the rules of the old testament. However Jesus clearly states they still apply in Mathew 5:17

So Christians, why do you continue to cherry pick your family values? Also, why are you not defending these family values?

Additional Details

@mopar Mike: I am not condoning anything. I just do not know why Christians are not defending these God given values?

THE BATTLE AXE: Suddenly Absent, Suddenly Present (03/31/2013)—(7.) The form for mankind that we call “the body” may exist apart from the divinely given spirit (e.g., at funerals). In the same way, the divinely given spirit may exist apart from the body, and at the completion of mortality, the spirit returns to GOD who gave it (Ecclesiastes 8: 8, 9: 5-6, and 12: 7, KJV). (8.) Conjunction of body and spirit results in the living soul (Genesis 2: 7, KVJ). Each living soul displays unique patterns of consciousness, emotion, and thought that establish its being as person. Person does not exist apart from the living soul. The spirit of the wicked may return to GOD at their death, however, their person does not exist again until resurrection of the wicked for judgment (Proverbs 18: 5, Matthew 13: 47-50 and Revelation 20: 11-15, KJV). (9. ) Thus, for the righteous, resurrection of the body pertains to eternal life, for a perfected spirit must reside within a perfected body. Through the perfected spirit, the perfected person of the righteous also will contain the fullness of divine law. It is in this sense that resurrected believers and those written in the Lamb’s book of life will replace the Temple in the heavens. (See 1st Corinthians 6: 19 and 15: 51-55; also Revelation 21: 1-27, KJV.) (10.) For mankind, the resurrection of the body pertains to the inclusion of glory in the makeup of human person. This is demonstrated by both the resurrection and the Second Coming of Jesus displaying the fullness of all divine glory (Matthew 25: 31, Luke 9: 25-27, 2nd Thessalonians 2: 13-14 and 2nd Timothy 2: 10-13, KJV).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6: 6-10, KJV)

The answers from an American who is a mature Christian believer, will probably be totally foreign to you, for they come out of faith and extensive spiritual experience in what you might call “the real world.” Without help from Christ, you won’t understand a word. Even so, please consider the following points:

(1.) The institution known among modern men as “family” is not the creation of GOD, and has been developed as an aspect of the World system. Unlike divine creations such as the earth and humanity, The World is the creation of mankind, and is a set of interconnected devices and meanings to exchange resources, and ensure survival.

(2.) The World supplies definitions and values to preserve human life. Included are such labels as beautiful/ugly, fair/unfair, false/true, good/bad, hip/square, holy/unholy, intelligent/stupid, right/wrong, righteous/unrighteous, real/unreal and scientific/unscientific.

(3.) The Flesh (i.e., appetite such as hunger, thirst, sexual cravings; sense such as hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting; and mental functions such as desire, fantasy, imagination, recall) also supplies labels and values as does the Devil (i.e., created beings and living creatures that oppose the sovereignty of GOD), and as does GOD.

(4.) The Gospel of Jesus Christ centers in the transformation of mankind through such divine process as birth, death, judgment, re-birth, repentance, revelation, resurrection and sanctification. Born again through divine DNA, so to speak, believers are “new creatures” (called “the children of God,” “saints” or “sons and daughters of GOD”). Born-again, these must mature again, endure “growing pains,” and continue in a process being perfected through the spirit of GOD.

(5.) Relationships (including covenants and priesthood) and law among mankind are shown to develop, and progress in the Old Testament by displaying thousands of lives over thousands of years. Adam and Eve were a single person before GOD, and were used as an instrument to people the earth. Reproduction among their offspring was not incest or in violation of divine law.

(6.) For mature Christian believers, both marriage and divorce are emblems (badges, representations) of divine authority (What GOD has joined together, let no man put asunder.). The contract for marriage is in force until mortality is completed; thus, death appears as a divine instrument applied for dissolving the divine spiritual union.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, (7.) spiritual affiliation and relationships for the people of GOD in Christ are by the imparted, indwelling spirit from GOD, called the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, and the Spirit of Truth. Often, ones carnal, material and social family, friends, spouses, etc. have no part in their new life from GOD. See Luke 14: 25-27, KJV.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Concern that children are losing the faith of their parents, and more on lawful divorce are considered, today. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Leif Olafsen” (Level 4 with 4,087 points, a member since October 2, 2010) posted the following:

Are you concerned that many are losing the faith of their parents?

Many seem to be giving up the religion that was so generously bestowed upon them.

THE BATTLE AXE: Lawful Divorce (11/17/2012)—In holy matrimony GOD is called to witness and endorse a joining of spirits accomplished as out-breathing and utterance of promise. Through the two persons unified in action, belief, and purpose, marriage serves as a divine tool for revelation whereby GOD is made present and visible. While marriage entails commitment, duty and self-denial, marriage is not abasement, bondage, enslavement, or abject servitude. Also, as a carnal relationship, marriage is terminated by death, and does not exist in the grave, or in heaven. Through marriage, the active presence of GOD as an eternal, immortal person in covenant upon the earth is acknowledged by continuity, faithfulness, permanence, trust, and truth. Divorce always provides opportunity for a closer walk with GOD; and believers may receive comfort, confidence, healing, hope, reassurance, and strength to endure profound change. Divorce releases a couple from all obligation to cohabit; however, partnership with GOD, and requirements to share support, and love one another (even as your “enemy”) continues.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he hath established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God. (Psalms 78: 2-8, King James Version)

May I share comment; be careful for nothing:

At one time, I was alarmed that children in America both were being denied and were rejecting proper spiritual instruction on a broad scale. Christ helped me realize that spiritual birth and growth are through divine agencies, and not through the social patterns of competition, cooperation and exchange that we typically describe as education and instruction. Those we look upon as our ancestors and pioneers have often been blessed with only an “earnest of the spirit” (i.e., down payment, so to speak); and those who follow them are granted a greater dispensation. Thus, of those who left Egypt with Moses, only Joshua and Caleb actually survived and received a portion in the Promised Land. The experience in the wilderness was to equip the children and grandchildren of those in covenant to prosper through divinely given knowledge and understandings that had been rejected by their forefathers.

When GOD revealed himself to Moses, who was hidden in the cleft of the rock, he proclaimed his name (how he was to be known and spoken of) as the supreme Judge. In declaring the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children to the third and fourth generations (a generation is 40 years), we are cautioned that the challenge to ones children and the effects of our sin endure for as many as one-hundred-sixty (160) years. For our children to learn and do no differently than we have done would be the continuing of human error, and their doom.

Accepting GOD as ones divine teacher, knowledge, truth and wisdom come by prayer, re-birth, reflection, regeneration, study of the Scriptures, and sanctification. While church attendance usually includes experiences of the gospel being preached, only hearing the word is a small part of a believer being built up, and established as a disciple. There also must be opportunities for fellowship, giving, service to others, and worship.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the truth does not change, people do: our acceptance of the truth, our distance to and from the truth, our ability to recognize the truth. The sacred process of mankind’s progression to GOD is ordered and structured so that aspects of the full truth are given emphasis at different times, in different places. Saying this another way, there will be no new gospel, or new revelation. Yet, future generations will walk in light that is more full and complete than exists for us today.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

A question about divorce, and more on the deliverance of the Apostle Paul from law and from sin. The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “youth action” (Level 1 with 95 points, a member since November 17, 2012) posted the following:

What is the bible’s viewpoint about divorce?

on d ground of adultery, does the bible permit divorce?

THE BATTLE AXE: The Slave to Law and Sin Made Free (11/16/2012)—Saul of Tarsus was chosen to demonstrate that “ordinary men” also may receive a “miraculous birth.” Paul was “born again”, and emerged from three days of darkness as did Jonah, in a resurrection to new life through Jesus Christ. While Paul was granted understanding that was radical for his day, modern believers are given a more complete and detailed revelation than that provided to the early church. The changes wrought within Saul, and through his ministry, were by the operation of the Holy Spirit imparted from GOD the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. In the effort to acknowledge both his human condition and the continuing spiritual growth they were experiencing, Saul (Paul) and all the other disciples and witnesses of Jesus had to abandon many long-held ideas about faith, law, righteousness, and sin. While sin first appeared among the angels, the angels were endowed with no knowledge or skill to detect, and remove sin from their midst. Although not created by GOD, and having no divine content, sin may dominate the self-will of created beings and living creatures without also being recognized in their awareness. To the extent law (i.e., the expressed will of GOD) makes sin known and visible, many attack the law as if the law is the cause and source of sin. In another important error, many associate sin with Satan as though sin is a power he possesses that may be exercised for his own benefit. Satan is only another slave and victim of sin. Through Christ the experience, focus and nature of divine law are revealed as cleansing, correction (not punishment), forgiveness, healing, and love.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment? (Malachi 2: 13-17, King James Version)

Both marriage and divorce are emblems of divine authority in the same way a police officer displays a badge and wears a name plate. GOD is made known to humankind through intimate relationship; and the divine presence works like a glue or bonding agent that establishes cohesion, purpose, stability, truth and wisdom. Such elements as attraction, compatibility and passion derive from the flesh; that is, from appetite (e.g., hunger, thirst, sexual cravings), sensation (e.g., hearing, seeing, touching) and mind (e.g., fantasy, imagination, recall).

Jesus continues to teach that the divine intent for marriage was to join a man and women as life companions, not merely as sexual partners. In sexual joining (be it as simple as holding hands or a kiss on the cheek) emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual joining also may occur. The bodies of a couple are fused in a physical and temporal act that does not endure beyond their copulation; however, through the interweaving of their mind and spirit, they may become a living unit, and single person before GOD as were the male and female both known as Adam.

While the Scriptures record GOD stating emphatically that he hates divorce (called “putting away” in the writings of the Prophet Malachi) fornication (a joining of spirits through sexual activity) is identified as a lawful ground for divorce. When a person engages in sex, they receive a deposit of the spirit matter residing within their partner. Where a person has had multiple partners, they have also received multiple spirits. Spiritual defilement may occur where a person receives negative and unclean spirits. More than this, spiritual confusion may occur through attacks upon ones inborn spirit, and conflict among the spirits for control of the individual.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, divorce is a legal solution where separation must occur. GOD also uses the natural solution of death.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Focus today is upon the role of “life companion,” and there is more on seeing with new eyes, including a drawing to clarify “thinking inside/outside the box.” Also, because I want to share some perspective with my readers upon what we may have accomplished in this writing ministry, I reviewed some of the numbers. Since 2006, I have now shared 827 responses to questions posted at “Yahoo! The “Yahoo! Answers” writer “Dutchess V” (Level 1 with 150 points, a member since June 29, 2007) posted the following:

Bible verse He who finds a wife finds a good thing?

I don’t understand this verse because what’s the point in marriage when there’s so much divorce? Why get married anyway?

THE BATTLE AXE: To See With New Eyes (11/06/2012)—The developing Christian sees with new eyes when first thinking outside the box whose four sides are custom, popular culture, self-will and tradition, and then thinking exclusively within the box whose four sides are facts (Scripture), goals (Spirit), rules (Law), and truth (Gospel).

The Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Prophecy) generates discernment, insight, vision, and understanding. Even without a multitude of words, otherwise invisible connections, conflicting details and subtle differences become apparent, and reasonable. In the same way children acquire language (mama and dada) by repeated exposure, correction, and approval, right knowledge of salvation for mankind (and those in the heaven) comes through continuing proclamation, discovery, trial and error, and conclusive judgment. Thereby, the church of Jesus Christ instructs and transforms all within the kingdom of GOD (see 1st Peter 1: 10-12 and Revelation 1: 1-6, King James Version). The greater challenge to believers is that they grasp new truth when dealing with familiar and old things, and not that they encounter new things or things they’ve never seen before. For angelic beings supplied with a full measure of knowledge and understanding that does not include recognition of forgiveness, repentance and sin, and who can receive no added endowment of truth, there remains a capacity to focus discrete knowledge in new patterns that come forth as voluntary action, choice, obedience, service, submission and worship. The angels may not learn new things, yet, they may continually witness new things.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? (Proverbs 5: 15-20, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Women Ordained to Minister? (10/27/2012); Does Everyone Go To Heaven? (10/28/2012); Birth Control and Sexism? (03/16/2012); Many Forms of GOD? (03/17/2012); Monogamy? (11/29/2010); The Lost? (11/30/2010)

It is the faith of many mature believers who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Redeemer, Savior and Son of GOD that marriage is a sacred institution created by GOD, and is being used to accomplish divine, not human, purposes. Included are judgment, maturation (i.e., completing physical, emotional and psychological growth), perfection (i.e., bringing created beings to spiritual maturity), sanctification (i.e., cleansing and setting apart for divine service), revelation and salvation. When Adam and Eve were barred from the Garden of Eden, the pair carried three institutions with them, marriage, priesthood, and keeping the Sabbath.

Every married woman is not a “wife” just as every married man is not a “husband.” To be a wife a woman must be in the peculiar bond established through the Spirit of GOD that is visible as shared identity and union. Thereby she becomes a “life companion,” and is no longer an independent being. Copulation, intercourse, and other sexual joining only establishes an added spirit-presence within a woman or man that in fornication with multiple partners corrupts and defiles their inborn spirit.

Adam was a single entity before GOD, and the same name was given both the male and female (the male came up with “Eve” and “woman”). In holy matrimony, apart from the relationship to her mate, a wife does not exist alone before GOD, the two are one flesh. Besides marriage only adoption and birth create lifelong spiritual relationships (parents, siblings) that serve as primary social anchors to the living. Given there is so much more involved than simply voluntary commitment, desires and feelings, a man or woman’s place as life companion must be gradually discerned and discovered through spiritual growth.

While holy matrimony and divorce are both emblems of divinity belonging only to GOD (like the badge of authority worn by a police officer), society must regulate marriage through civil law as a social covenant, or contract for ownership of property. The spiritual bond of marriage is only established or dissolved by GOD. The principles of duty (things that must be done, like it, don’t like it, no matter what the cost) and faithfulness that express divine presence within the marriage cannot be annulled by judicial, or legislative acts. Thus, as when a mother loses her child in birth, years of separation alone are rarely enough to heal the wounds from divorce.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the authority, benefit and respect due a wife is as great as that of a mother, and correctly understood, is no less than that of a husband. Equality within marriage is primarily a matter of oneness rather than sameness. Thus, a fifty/fifty arrangement is not automatically a better expression of balance than sixty/forty, seventy/thirty or ninety/ten. Like ones status as a believer begins before ones baptism, and a couple’s intimate relationship is in place before acknowledgment by family and friends, status as life companions begins before wedding ceremonies and other public acknowledgments.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
