The meanings of darkness and night as they appear in a prophecy spoken by Jesus are topics, today.  Also, there is more on how death as the end of pain and suffering relates to self-will and sin.  A “Yahoo! Christians, what did Jesus mean by night coming when no man can work?

John 9:4 (ESV)

4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.

THE BATTLE AXE:  The End of Pain? (06/10/2013)—  (6)  Self-will in created beings and living creatures is defiled by sin and made spiritually unclean.  Saying this another way:  will in temporal beings (those who are not eternal) decays and rots; and ones spiritual endowment from GOD is diminished.  Through the influence of sin upon self-will (we say, will-power), it is now widely-held error within the awareness of created beings and living creatures that GOD is an arbitrary cause of death, that death occurs randomly and serves no purpose, and that the end of GOD will bring the end of death.  Ones desire for their own continuity and permanence as well as that for their loved ones cannot be satisfied through operations of human will.  Sin results in death by blocking and interrupting divine growth, learning, maturation, and perfection.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day:  we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.  (1st Thessalonians 5:  1-11, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Jesus Lives! (05/04/2013); Time Before The Sun? (04/14/2013); The Obedience of Jesus? (04/15/2013); Did Jesus Know? (12/22/2012); The True Miracle (12/23/2012)

“pray for the world.”, many mature Christian believers who deeply love Jesus as our Redeemer and Savior would agree that anyone who desires a full and mature knowledge of the Gospel, should also consider the following points:

(1)  Throughout the holy writings, day and night are recurring conditions in human experience, and the natural world.  Day is the time of light when meaningful work and honest activity may be completed.  As an extended period dominated by darkness, many repeatedly choose night as the time to commit sins, and pursue pleasures that are offenses against GOD.  Transgressors gain a heightened confidence that, cloaked and covered by night, they will remain anonymous, their wrongdoing will not be detected or interrupted, they will have greater opportunity to escape, and, even when seen by witnesses, they will not be easy to identify in the light.

(2)  Along with blindness, darkness and night also speak to ignorance of revealed truth from GOD.  In addition to preaching a prophetic message, teaching from the holy writings, and witness as his ministry from GOD, Jesus performed works that included exorcism (i.e., casting out devils and unclean spirit beings that attempt to conceal themselves from divine sight by hiding within human bodies, who debase and defile their hosts), forgiving the condemned in judgment, healing the blind, and raising the dead.

(3)  Because of depression, despair, and sorrow without godly hope, death is spoken of in the world as darkness, and night.  (The earth is the creation of GOD; the world is the man-made system for exchange and survival upon the earth.)  Through Jesus Christ, mankind receives the demonstration of resurrection, the promise of eternal life, and the expectation of unending light provided by the permanent presence of GOD.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4)  Jesus prophesied his own death as unavoidable, and highlighted the truth that the continuing work of his disciples and apostles as vessels of the Holy Spirit would be the primary spark of GOD upon the earth until the time of his second coming.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Feelings held by those condemned in divine judgment are a topic, today, along with more on what happens to those who have never heard about GOD and Christ.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Jake” (Level 1 with 16 points, a member since May 11, 2013) posted the following:

Christians, if you are sent to Hell by God, for whatever reason, would you still adore and love God?

Esther …. rather nice AVOIDANCE of my question. Guilty conscience? Not 100% sure “you” are going to make it to heaven? Hmmm.

THE BATTLE AXE:  Those Who Have Never Heard? (06/07/2013)—(5)  The experience of “hearing the truth” and knowing the existence of GOD within ones awareness is not a product of conversation, culture, human interaction, language, social communication, and verbal exchange.  Consciousness of divinity is an aspect of personal being, and a life-process like self-awareness that occurs within the spirit make-up of created beings and living creatures through the action and presence of GOD, who is spirit.  The Gospel is preached, and believers provide various demonstrations of faith in order to acknowledge, confirm, and witness to the presence of the Spirit of Christ in the earth, and can not create awareness and sacred knowledge where it does not exist.  Through the ministry of Jesus, the terms of historical covenants binding GOD and elect persons among men have been modified to further clarify judgment, broaden salvation, extend the benefits of divine promises, and illuminate the righteousness of grace.  See John 10:  1-30 and Ephesians 2:  8-22, King James Version.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me:  for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.  O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee:  but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.  And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:  that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.  (John 17:   18-26, King James Version)

Jake, here are some points that are useful for avoiding spiritual confusion, and becoming a mature Christian believer:

(1)  Those who acknowledge, adore, love, and worship GOD through Jesus Christ do so because they have received an endowment of divine spirit.  Substance from the make-up and person of GOD is deposited within the believer that transforms their self-awareness and living process.  (We say the believer is “born again.”)  Included as divine spirit content are faith, forbearance, forgiveness, holiness, joy, longsuffering, love, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.

(2)  Created beings and living creatures lose their place within the sphere of divine existence only because their consciousness of divinity, their defining content, and their inner make-up becomes corrupt and defiled through sin.  The will of GOD is not subject to sin.  Sin has not been created by GOD, does not obey or respond to the will of GOD, and has no material or spirit substance.  Even so, sin has direction, effect and presence; and may dominate self-will in created beings and living creatures.  Sin opposes the existence of divine law, of Sacred Person, and of all that has been created of GOD.

(3)  While temporal feelings (i.e., emotions that come and go) such as anger, bitterness, fear, pride, resentment, self-approval, and uncertainty often characterize the wicked, divine judgment is founded upon eternal and unchanging principles, including those that have been proclaimed as divine law.  The focus of judgment is not upon behavior, conduct and episodes from angelic or human experience; actualities of existence and sacred process are examined, and identified for their fruitfulness, reverence, permanence, and continuance as perpetual.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4)  Christians are not sent to hell for any reason.  To be in Christ as a believer is to be already “cleared” in divine judgment, and to have place continuing in sacred processes of cleansing, correction, and sanctification.  While the challenges of sin continue in a believer’s human experience, sin can not terminate the workings of the Holy Spirit, and the sacred operation of perfection can not be concluded.  Every believer is being perfected—made holy, mature, immortal and incorruptible.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

The importance of resurrection to Christian belief is topic, today, along with further discussion of divine grace. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using ID “Howard” (Level 2 with 359 points, a member since March 13, 2013) posted the following:

Can a Christian not believe in the magical resurrection of Mr. Christ and still be a Christian?

Additional Details

“I don’t believe in any ‘magical’ resurrection, and I’m a Christian.” The preacher man was dead and decomposing for three days. His stinking corpse was infested with maggots. Then he rose from the dead. That is one heck of a magic trick.

My question: Is this disgusting fantasy a required belief in Christianity?

THE BATTLE AXE: The Benefit of Grace (03/19/2013)—Many confuse grace with forbearance, forgiveness, longsuffering and patience. In the holy writings, grace repeatedly comes into view as we speak of acceptance, approval, and being assigned positive value despite events that display ongoing judgment against sin. (For examples, see Genesis 6: 8 and 19: 19, Exodus 33: 17 and Ezra 9: 7-9, KJV). Men do not obtain grace from GOD on the basis of their obedience, service and good works as though grace is payment or divine reward. This allows us to say, grace is endorsement that comes through perfect dependency upon GOD, and through the elevation of divine will over self-will within created beings and living creatures. Grace does not serve to eliminate or remove challenge, condemnation, pain and suffering. Awareness of grace gives power to face up to and endure opposition. For mankind, grace is revealed and becomes most visible through human confrontations against fixed conditions of being, experience, sacred law (i.e., judgment), and human suffering. While suffering is associated with compassion and pity, suffering is not the sole cause for their appearance. Similarly, suffering has no power to generate, or call forth divine grace. While grace neither causes nor takes suffering away, ones awareness of grace continues discernment of divine presence, and permits continuous focus upon divinity throughout the outworking of divine process.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. (Acts 17: 29-31, King James Version)

Dear Howard:

your question, and the way you have stated your feelings indicate that what you think you know about Christian belief is distorted, profane, unbiblical and warped. The mocking title (Mr. Christ), tells us you do not know Jesus in a personal way, and you presently are not welcoming a right relationship with GOD through Christ. Even so, consider the following points:

(1) It is logical and reasonable to believe that an almighty, eternal GOD having power to create all that is in the earth, the sea, and the heavens also has power over life and death. On the basis of their content of divine substance, the Creator continually examines and assigns value to the objects within the full sphere of divine presence, and thereby determines the duration of their existence. Such a divine operation could be called “judgment.”

(2) Presently, only GOD, who is spirit, is immortal. There are no created beings and living creatures that are immortal (including angels, devils, and the sacred beasts of heaven). Mankind is mortal, and must complete and fulfill specific criteria that describe human experience. Included are birth, growth, kinship, learning, repentance, and suffering.

(3) Given that self-will in the living may be dominated by sin, death is a divine tool to establish eternal life, and a stage necessary for the transformation of human makeup. Through the use of death and resurrection, mankind may be established as incorruptible and immortal.

(4) By raising Lazarus from the dead, Christ demonstrated on earth the power of GOD in heaven to revive all the dead. Nonetheless, Lazarus later died, as did Jesus. Resurrection is more than merely the reanimation of the dead; it is the entrance into divine presence and realization of ones own eternal person.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the holy writings teach that there must be two resurrections, one for the just, one for the wicked. Just as here on earth, every person must appear before in the presence of GOD for their own judgment to personally answer the charges and indictments against themselves. That judgment is only upon the living further reveals the righteousness of GOD, the divine Judge.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today’s presentation (below) focuses on the church of Jesus Christ as an endowment for the holy angels; and there is more on the value to full Christian belief for those portions of the Bible printed in red ink and identified as the words spoken by our Savior.

THE BATTLE AXE: Reading Only The Red Part (11/19/2012)—As surely as setting a glass of milk or a magazine atop the closed Bible was punishable by “tongue-lashing”, one could never throw a Bible into the trash that had frayed, missing and torn pages. The element of fear in may homes that surrounded the Scriptures, was as serious and solemn as when a flag must be burned after the desecration that occurs when the flag is dropped and touches the soil. Many regarded the red-letter Bible as actually printed using the blood of Jesus, and the red part was not from any book-maker’s ink. Even among scholars, forms of Bible-olatry are found where various collations, footnotes, languages, and translations are exalted as “more scholarly than thou.” Where the Old Testament writings may be characterized as forecasts and projections, New Testament writing is witness and testimony that affirm completed events, and continue the revelation of things already in process that are yet to be fulfilled. Mature believers, who themselves have been touched by the spiritual power of the Bible, generally endorse the counsel given by the Apostle Paul to Timothy, the first bishop and elder appointed to raise up churches among the Gentiles: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2nd Timothy 3: 16, King James Version)

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. (Ephesians 3: 8-12, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: To See With New Eyes (11/06/2012); A Partnership? (11/05/2012); Seeking and Being Sought (11/04/2012); When Prayer Works (10/11/2012); Sin Unknown? (10/10/2012); The Gender of Angels? (10/09/2012); Repelled by the Bible? (08/13/2012); Marriage and Civil Law (08/14/2012); Coveting The Throne (03/07/2012); Bible Boring? (09/29/2010); Swearing? (09/30/2010)

As I sat with my older brother and sister at Sunday morning breakfast, my brother strongly disagreed when I made point based on a Bible verse that is found in the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians. Proclaiming the supremacy of GOD over heaven and earth, I declared that mankind is on display before the holy angels and the living creatures of heaven. The church of Jesus Christ is an instrument for divine purpose that includes communicating sacred truth regarding sin, repentance, and the prolonged existence of spirit being.

The angels were created as “finished” beings containing the full measure of divine endowment they would use throughout their presence and service before GOD. Included were such gifts as authority, joy, knowledge, and self-will. These holy beings were made having neither mortality nor immortality; and were not to be all-knowing or able to predict the future. Given that GOD did not create sin, sin is not spirit matter, and divine purpose does not include the operation of sin among the created, angels of the host were given no knowledge and understanding of sin, of repentance from sin, or of the evil (i.e., widespread damage, sudden reversals, upheaval) that results by sin. This permits us to say, both men and angels have been created with a peculiar ignorance. Even so, sin first appeared within the heavens; and various divine procedures are now in effect as an endowment that enables all to detect and resist sin.

For mankind, embracing the earthly ministry, death, resurrection, and eternal priesthood of Jesus through spiritual re-birth establishes a divine nature and sacred will that are untouchable by sin. The breath of life bestowed upon mankind at Creation is increased and supplemented through the Holy Ghost (also called the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Prophecy). The divine content that resided within the heart and mind of Jesus are imparted as indwelling spirit. Such features should be seen as awe, faith, hope, humility, longsuffering, love, obedience, truth, wisdom and wrath against sin. When men hear, internalize and live the tenets of the Gospel, their spirit content is transformed; and they begin to operate as sons and daughters of GOD, who display incorruptibility, eternal life, and immortality.

Thus, for the heavenly host, mankind serves as a living declaration from GOD that depicts otherwise invisible, and unknowable sacred purpose, and spirit truth. The angels do not know family and intimate relationships as men and women; and the ministering spirits are organized according to hierarchies and ranks that include dominions, powers principalities, and thrones. The church revealed as a mate and paramour to GOD perfected by Jesus Christ expresses and proclaims spirit-person and divine will just as Creation, the law, judgment, and prophecy.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, those angelic beings that seek to have dominion in the earth (called demons, devils, unclean spirits) are finite beings who were endowed to exist as princes and rulers within the heavens. These are not suited to reign upon the earth and within the same frameworks and limitations of mankind (e.g., flesh, mortality, time and space). Their efforts to rule will always be frustrated, and smashed apart by such features as death, fear, human error, lack of divine perspective, and mankind’s physical weaknesses.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
