Body Without Spirit

Today, reply is on two Scriptures that are to be read with a view to the doctrine that faith without works is dead. The two verses contrast believing and doing while also calling into understanding the perverseness of impenitence and willful sin (iniquity), the integrity of genuine relationship with divinity, and the essential operations of divine faith, grace, redemption, righteousness, and salvation. Even where they are unstated, and do not appear plainly written within the wording for a specific Bible verse or passage, mature Christians are ever to acknowledge that what is written also serves as the declaration of divine prerogative, sacred promise, eternal purpose, and the sovereign will of GOD. There are two forms of works that make faith visible: sacred works (e.g., confession; forbearance; forgiveness; praise; intercessory prayer) and secular works (e.g., caring for orphans and widows; feeding the hungry; giving shelter to the homeless). The two both appear through operations of the Holy Spirit; are necessary to each other being sound and whole; and they ought not be compared, or assigned value as though they are competing against one another. John 3: 15-16, King James Version (KJV) reads : 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Matthew 7: 21-23, KJV reads: 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. A fighter in the “Yahoo! Answers” public forum on Religion and Spirituality who uses the ID “I trust the count” (Level 7 with 276,857 points, a member since March 02, 2006) posted the following:

Jesus claims everyone who believes in Him will be saved according to John 3:15-16, what about the people in Matthew 7:21-23?

Are the people in Scriptures John 3:15-16 the same people as those in Matthew 7:21-23?

What is so different about the people in John 3:15-16 and Matthew 7:21-23?

THE GOLDEN ARROW: For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4: 3-5, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: We Have To Believe (01/06/2019); Known By His Fruit (11/04/2018); Ye That Work Iniquity (09/24/2018); “I Never Knew You” (03/23/2018); Attending Church a “Chore”? (01/23/2018); Praying For “More Faith”? (01/12/2018); The Savior of “All”? (08/22/2017); Salvation By Faith Alone? (01/19/2017); Many Are Called… (10/15/2015)

I trust the count”, the two scripture passages (group of verses) you present must be understood on the basis of their fit with other teachings. The power and process of life in Christ must come into view as more than intellectual content, emotions, ideals, good intentions, thoughts, or finite self-will. There also must be action, obedience to divine law, performing the righteousness within the law, and completing unselfish works. The Bible is a special collection and library of sacred books that preserve the divine law, doctrine, guidance, instruction, and principles provided from divinity (we also say, the Godhead; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) so that created beings and living creatures may exist in continuing relationship as life companions to GOD. Therefore, the holy writings include such features as parables, praises, prayers, promises, prophesies and visions. Because the sacred knowledge shared within the Scriptures has been gathered by multiple writers, from thousands of events that occur within thousands of lives, over the course of thousands of years, there are multiple presentations of the same point of understanding that emerge from diverse aspects of focus, and that may use different language. To properly acknowledge all of the various requirements that must be met to receive the full benefit and privilege available to the offspring of GOD, a sinner must become a developing Christian believer who will be made mature/ripe for harvest by Jesus Christ at his appearing (we also say, the Advent; the Rapture; the Second Coming). Those who will meet the Lord in the air will have been prepared through discovery, gradual growth, learning, practice of the sacraments, unselfish service, and suffering. Consider again the following verses that clarify and complete the two verses you have highlighted:

1. John 7: 14-18, King James Version (KJV): 14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. 15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? 16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. 18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

2. Hebrews 11: 6, KJV: 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

3. James 2: 19-20, KJV: 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

There is far more that should be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, 4. James 2: 14-18, KJV: 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

believe

Today, reply is on believing as a sacred operation made in response to divine revelation, rather than an emotional, intellectual, or mental event responding to life experiences and worldly occurrences. Consciousness within created beings and living creatures must acknowledge and respond to active presence that appears as the inseparable aspects of divine fullness (we say, the makeup of GOD). While sinners will begin with ideas and understandings that are simple and easily understood, eventually they are to take on the duties and practices of mature Christian adults that are profound expressions of divine law, eternal purpose, and the sovereign will of the Creator. The writer at the public forum, “Yahoo! Answers” Religion and Spirituality who uses the ID “veggiegirl777” (Level 4 with 3,344 points, a member since March 26, 2009) posted the following:

Why does Christianity say we have to believe Jesus died for our sins in order to be saved?

In the Bible, I have read many parts of it, it only quotes Jesus as saying you have to believe in him.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (John 3: 16-21, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Offering Yourself To Christ? (12/27/2018); Discovering The Holy Spirit (12/23/2018); The Water, The Fire (10/10/2017); Become Like Jesus Christ? (10/27/2016); Belief, Content And Works? (02/12/2016); By More Than Believing (12/04/2015); Foolish For Not Believing? (03/22/2013); Science and the Laws of Nature? (03/23/2013)

veggiegirl777”, speaking as mature Christian believers, born-again followers of Jesus should share the understanding that “belief” in Christ as Lord and Savior is more than a choice or decision grounded in logic, carnal reason, and critical thinking. Christians are to accept and undergo permanent change. The belief spoken of within the holy writings and the shared doctrine for the church speak to the need for divine process that is generated and completed through exchanges and interactions of inseparable aspects of divine fullness. Included are faith, forbearance, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, personhood, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin. Sinners who turn to GOD will experience repentance as an operation of the imparted, indwelling Spirit, who also is a member of the Godhead (we say, divinity; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit). Most developing believers begin their journey returning to the Creator being grounded in secular knowledge, worldly practices, and transgressions of divine law (we say, sins). New believers must acquire sacred knowledge, skill performing sacred practices (i.e., sacraments such as baptism, marriage, praise, prayer), and maturity (e.g., accountability, balance, consistency, sobriety, stability). Once sinners are transformed through baptism to exist as vessels of divine life essence (we say, breath; spirit; word), they are to continue using daily routines and lifestyles that display the influence of active presence and their new relationship as the offspring of GOD, joint heirs with Jesus Christ, and the new creation.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

Colossians 3: 1-12, King James Version (KJV): 1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

Abstrations

Today, focus is on divinity being revealed directly to those who are simple, rather than only to scientists, great scholars and thought leaders of the world.  Created beings and living creatures can not exist or interact intimate and personal relationship(s) with their Creator unless there be a continuous revelation that makes GOD knowable, known, and approachable.  Divinity must be acknowledged as more than an abstraction or theoretical premise.  For discovering and continuing godliness, the excellence of sacred knowledge, consecrated discipline and practice, and divine spirit process is far above that for secular knowledge, worldly politics, and popular culture, and are on the same higher level as divine law, sacred mystery, and eternal purpose.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” who uses the ID “SupaStar” (Level 5 with 7,558 points, a member since August 07, 2014) posted the following:

Why does God only speak directly with the ignorant and uneducated? Why does he never speak to people with higher levels of education?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:  Which none of the princes of this world knew:  for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:  for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.  (1st Corinthians 2:  7-10, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  About Using “Sacred Logic” (11/19/2017); Confused By Spiritual Puzzles (11/13/2017); GOD Is Imparting Truth (10/30/2017); Idolatry — Exalting Human Devices? (09/21/2017); From Dust Thou Art (09/07/2017); Christianity Is Not Mindless (05/02/2017); Proof That GOD Exists? (10/16/2016); Abstractions, Atheism and I.Q. (08/18/2016)

“SupaStar”, among Christian believers, those serving as prophets and spokespersons of GOD are made fit for their office by first receiving fresh sacred endowments of spirit content from the makeup of divinity.  Included are faith, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, meekness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Having deposits of Spirit imparted from GOD, men who express humility are edified (built up) to display “the image of GOD” required for ongoing intimate and personal relationship with GOD that is the platform for their obedience and unselfish service.

Formal education, intelligence, and secular knowledge are intended to enable mankind to operate within a physical sphere of life continually encountering carnal, material, secular and social expressions of flesh.  Thus, balance, control and influence (we say, power) over consciousness and self-will are demonstrated through appetite (e.g., hunger, thirst, sexual cravings), sensation (e.g., hearing, seeing, tasting, touching) and emotion/mental functions (e.g., anger, fear, imagination, recall, sorrow).

Merely having existence and life essence (i.e., divine breath, spirit, Word) do not fit mankind to display the character, makeup, person, possibilities, and sovereign will of GOD.  So to speak, those most useful to GOD will be those who are plain, who are most transparent, and who best mirror, project and reflect his image—not their own.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

(1.)  Exodus 19:  4-6, King James Version (KJV):  4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.  5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people:  for all the earth is mine:  6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

(2.)  2nd Corinthians 4:  6-12, KJV:  6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.  8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;  10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.  11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.  12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

(3.)  Colossians 2:  8-12, KJV:  8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:  11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:  12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

There is far more to be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today, reply is on the importance of sacred “evidence” instead of “instinct” when seeking sacred truth.  A fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “Nerdy Keith” (Level 7 with 37,633 points, a member since April 21, 2012) posted the following:

Is relying on evidence rather than instinct the better choice?

This was asked previously and a few of you felt I was not clear enough on the purpose of the question so I will explain.

I have heard a few persons of faith claim that atheists lack instinct due to relying too much of skepticism and logic. But too little on instincts. I have a suspicion that the word “instincts” in this case is an alternative word for “gut feeling”.

I simply responded with evidence is important. What are your views on this issue?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  For by it the elders obtained a good report.  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.  (Hebrews 11:  1-3, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  About Using “Sacred Logic” (11/19/2017); Without the Divine Image? (10/15/2017); The Cross and Arbitrary Differences (06/17/2016); Bible and Spirit (04/26/2014); Personality? (04/27/2014); Salvation for Atheists? (06/14/2013); Church is Good? (06/15/2013)

“Nerdy Keith”, in the same way basketball is not the evidence for baseball, football and hockey simply because they all exist as organized athletic competition, animal instinct, imagination, logic and recall are not evidence of divinity simply because they exist as conceptual, intangible, invisible, aspects of mind.  Correctly understood, objects and operations that pertain to Christian godliness and spiritual beliefs may only be properly recognized and responded to when compared to and contrasted against other elements and features that also contain and convey the same spirit substance imparted to mankind from the makeup of divinity.  (e.g., events, divine law, oneself, other persons, and the holy writings).  Saying this another way, spiritual things must be spiritually discerned.  Christian belief is a full and closed system; therefore, the evidence for sacred truth is itself sacred truth:  the evidence for faith is faith, the evidence for righteousness is righteousness, and the evidence for the Spirit of GOD is the Spirit of GOD.

Acknowledging GOD as the origin for all that exist and have life, we speak of a Creator as the source of our life essence (we say, breath, spirit, Word).  Mankind is to continually display the “image of GOD,” that is, the character, makeup, and spirit content that describe divinity.  Even so, as a created being and living creature, mankind is capable of displaying an animal, human, or divine nature; may present elements from all three at the same time; and is vulnerable to the operations of sin that dominate awareness and self-will in opposition to divine existence.  Instinct is a feature of animal intelligence generated through operations of the flesh such as appetite (hunger, thirst, sexual cravings), sensation (hearing, seeing, tasting, touching) and emotion/mental functions (anger, fear, sorrow).  Divine intelligence is ascribed as sacred knowledge, revelation, and imparted spirit content from GOD (e.g., faith, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, wisdom, wrath against sin.)

Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible provided from testimony and witness under oath declared during sacred judgment:

(1.)  1st Corinthians 12:  3, King James Version (KJV):  3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed:  and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

(2.)  1st Corinthians 2:  12-14, KJV:  12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

There is far more to be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (3.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

A Depiction of GODhead

A Depiction of the GODhead

Today, reply is on using human logic and other intellectual tools to know divinity.  To know divinity is to have consciousness of things eternal, invisible, and possible for Deity, not merely the things that are seen and temporal.  Sacred truth compasses and embraces immaterial substance and features that include eternity, glory, righteousness, and spirit.  Knowing divinity and being in continuous relationship with divine persons require a higher level of emotional, mental, and spiritual operation than that we apply, and use as academic and secular knowledge.  The core and platform for complete, correct recognition and response to the active presence who we speak of as GOD are only established through operations among spirit substances that we give the name of gifts, endowments, eternal life, new creation, perfection, rebirth, redemption, resurrection, and revelation.  By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (we also say, the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Spirit of Truth) sinners are supplied to develop as Christian believers capable of commitment, discernment, and genuine spiritual growth.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” who uses the ID “maulporphy” (Level 5 with 9,109 points, a member since March 24, 2016) posted the following:

Say, this god of yours: he’s three, but actually only one? That defies logic. How does that work?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath:  for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner:  but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.  Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.  For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool:   but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.  (Isaiah 51:  6-8, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  All Divinity in ONE? (11/17/2017); A Lawless, Violent GOD? (11/16/2017); Confused By Spiritual Puzzles (11/13/2017); Idolatry — Exalting Human Devices? (02/03/2016)

“maulporphy”, together, the many tools of “mind” relied on by created beings and living creatures are useful for describing and imposing order on carnal, material, secular, and social life experience, yet, are finite, inadequate and profane when applied to the task of knowing the Holy.  Such features as imagination, intellect, carnal reason, critical thinking, the frameworks of time and space have less value where we focus on divine order, the makeup and process of divinity, and continuing in intimate or personal relationship with the Creator who is immortal and incorruptible.

Where “logic” means rules that should be applied to establish meaning, order, quality, and value, Christian believers may speak of “sacred logic,” divine law, and the order that must appear on the basis of GOD existing as the totality of all divine spirit substance (we say, the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit) as well as appearing in human form (the Incarnation; the Son of Man, Jesus Christ).  In accordance with sacred logic, the makeup of divinity includes inseparable aspects such as faith, forbearance, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, person, presence, sovereign will, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  In measures that are scaled for their form, service, and sphere of life, spirit content from GOD may be conveyed and imparted to the living as life essence (we say, breath, spirit, Word).

Christians rely on things provided by GOD to make divinity knowable, known, accessible and approachable (we say, divine revelation).  For example, the Bible is a collection (library) of separate sacred books documenting the appearance of GOD on the earth and within the heaven using thousands of events in thousands of lives over the course of thousands of years.  Consider again the following that acknowledges the difficulty of coming into right sacred knowledge and relationship with GOD, and how spirit content must be provided to sinners for them to become believers:

(1.)  Acts 7:  51-60, King James Version (KJV):  51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost:  as your fathers did, so do ye.  52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:  53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.  54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.  55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,  56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.  57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,  58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him:  and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.  59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.  60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

(2.)  Philippians 3:  7-14, KJV:  7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.  8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord:  for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:  10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;  11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.  12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect:  but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.  13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:  but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

There is far more to be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (3.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Today, focus is upon conscience as an expression from the flesh and the World, rather than divine Spirit.  At one time, conscience was widely understood to be like artistry and talent, a gift given a person by GOD.  Conscience appeared as an operation of law detecting and exposing sin, making challenge as an accuser, and delivering correction and punishment in the form of despair and unending mental anguish.  Many in modern society are startled and disheartened knowing there are those among us who repeatedly show anger, aggressive and “hard-core” attitudes (the young say, gangsta), bitterness, enmity, frigidity, hostility, indifference to the suffering of others, lack of love, rage, self-destructiveness, and mindless violence.  Impenitent sinners, having exaggerated pride and refusing to show remorse or sorrow for sin, seem to be multiplying.  Their behavior and conduct shows no respect to law, to life, to judgment, to forgiveness, to kindness, or to love.  Because they are increasingly labeled as inhuman, monsters, psychopaths, and sociopaths, it often seems acceptable to say such sinners are “dead” in sin, can not be raised or restored, and will never be saved since they have no remaining scrap of conscience or humanity.  Yet, these are the ones who would benefit most through being “born again.”  The fighter at “Yahoo! How can people not believe in God when our consciences testify to his existence?

Our conscience is like a fire alarm. It tells us when we are violating God’s law. It can make us feel terrible, because that is God’s way of warning us when we are in trouble.

How can someone ignore that and then insist that everything happened by chance and as such, morality is purely a societal construct?

It’s like saying that a building just formed by chance and natural processes, instead of intelligence!

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?  And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.  (Hebrews 9:  13-15, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Spirit Process not Feelings? (09/21/2016); Judgment Focused On Content? (08/30/2016); Boasting In The Lord (08/19/2016); Where Society Is Headed? (01/11/2016); In Times of Progress? (12/21/2015); Punishment To Show Love? (11/29/2015); Sin in Mind not Deed? (01/06/2014)

“Bobby”, here are some thoughts I’d like to share:  As an emotional and psychological aspect of ones awareness (we may say, the flesh), conscience and self-will may be dominated by the operations of sin.  Conscience, that many take to be an inner standard that tells us right and wrong, may be the origin and source for our feelings and sense of condemnation, disgrace, embarrassment, guilt, and shame.  Thus, the testimony and witness of conscience can be more akin to the products of flesh and mind than to those from (we say, the fruit of) the imparted, indwelling spirit of GOD.  Therefore, for Christian believers, conscience is not a “thorn in the flesh” that reveals divine grace and the active presence of divinity, nor is conscience a device that increases sacred knowledge, and establishes eternal purpose.

Conscience appears as if a complex and higher order response in created beings and living creatures because there is always a three-fold mix of emotional, intellectual and mental responses that persist, recur, and linger.  The mechanism of conscience appears to be a cycle wherein feeling triggers thoughts, followed by thoughts that repeatedly trigger the previous feelings.  Where conscience becomes corrupted, loses its forcefulness, and becomes unfocused, it does not operate as prophecy to comfort, edify (build up), and exhort (command immediate action; excite believers to “stir up the gifts”).  More than this, conscience may become seared.  (When fire (i.e., judgment) is used to cauterize (close) a person’s deep and unseen wounds, so to speak, a seal is created that stops the bleeding.  However, the seal that no longer allows anything out from the wound, also no longer allows anything in.  Thus, many are “ever learning,” yet, never coming to the knowledge of the truth.)

To the extent conscience in modern society may be seen as a result of carnal, material, and social elements, what we experience as being matters of “conscience” (or not) can be determined by such features as corporate advertising, gossip, politics, popular culture, government propaganda, slander, and even the “charm” and panache of criminal and nonconformist personality (bad boyz!).  Consider again the admonitions, examples, and how some of this is stated using language from the Bible:

(1.)  1st Timothy 4:  1-3, King James Version (KJV):  1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;  2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;  3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

(2.)  Titus 1:  15-16, KJV:  15 Unto the pure all things are pure:  but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.  16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

(3.)  1st Timothy 1:  3-7, KJV:  3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,  4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith:  so do.  5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:  6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;  7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

(4.)  1st Timothy 1:  18-20, KJV:  18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;  19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:  20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

There is far more to be said, carefully examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Commitment, discernment, faith, and love for unseen divinity are topics, today.  Christian believers continue committed to GOD (1) on the basis of atonement through the cross, (2) on the basis of divine proclamation, promise and prophecy, (3) on the basis of specific godly hopes they must tarry on earth to fulfill as well as (4) upon the basis of the blessings each believer actually experiences and receives.  The Son of GOD is never a stranger, for those who acknowledge his ministry of salvation to mankind immediately are  convicted that he is alive within their own character, nature and substance, and resides through divine Spirit within their own awareness and self-will.  One of the many fighters at “Yahoo! Answers” who use the ID “Anonymous” (no profile information shared) posted the following:

Why do people love and believe Jesus when they never met him?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.  (1st Peter 1:  3-9, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  A Christian Three R’s? (06/06/2016); The Life of GOD? (06/01/2016); Revelation and The Cross (03/27/2016); Belief In Another World? (02/17/2016); Spirit, Spirit Beings, Spirit Persons? (10/13/2015); GOD is Jesus? (01/13/2014); GOD is Showing You (01/14/2014)

“Anonymous”, the essential elements for Christian belief, fruitful commitment, and spiritual purity are the inseparable substances imparted from the makeup of divinity, so to speak.  Included are faith, holiness, forgiveness, joy,  longsuffering, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  The carnal and finite tools of intellect, knowing, logic, emotion and mental functions will appear in such operations as analysis, using assumptions (i.e., going forward with an idea as if it is true without full evidence in order to construct ones own arguments and positions), comparing, contrasting, deduction, induction, risk-taking, synthesis, and trust.  However, it is only by discernment (use of ones own spirit content to determine the action and presence of spirit substance within events, persons, purposes, statements, etc.) that Deity is revealed (made knowable, known and visible).  Consistent with fundamental truth regarding the divine nature, eternal purposes, and sacred operations of GOD, a believer may extrapolate and infer other truth that is consistent, fitting, and in accord with their own anointing and endowment of sacred knowledge.  Consider again how these ideas are stated using language from the Bible:

(1.)  Romans 8:  5-9, King James Version (KJV):  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(2.)  Job 19:  25-27, KJV:  25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:  26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:  27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

(3.)  Isaiah 57:  15, KJV:  15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

There is far more that could be said, must be carefully examined, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (4.)  John 20:  24-29, KJV:  24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.  25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.  26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:  then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.  27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:  and be not faithless, but believing.  28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.  29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:  blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
