The gulf between sacred and secular knowledge is in view, today, along with the idea of “progress” by shifts in language, and Scripture as an appearance of divinity.  One of the many fighters at “Yahoo! Isn’t it suspicious that stuff that Christians took LITERALLY from the Bible for 1000s of years, becomes figurative once we know better??

Isn’t it quite odd that stuff that Christians took LITERALLY from the Bible for 1000s of years, becomes figurative once we know better?
Just one example, in the ancient world people thought the HEART was responsible for thoughts and emotions. The Bible repeatedly says this. The Bible NEVER says the brain has anything to do with it. The Bible ONLY claims it is from the heart. So naturally, for a 1000+ years Christians literally thought the heart was responsible. Now that we know it isn’t, suddenly the Bible is figurative on this point.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:  That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:  But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.  (2nd Peter 3:  1-13, King James Version, KJV)

“Anonymous”, for mature Christian believers, there is no replacement or substitute for correct sacred knowledge that permits communion, exchange, interaction, proper reverence, and fruitful relationship with divinity.  Sacred knowledge is itself a spirit substance from the makeup of Deity, and a manifestation of GOD.  Thus, inseparable aspects of divinity are imparted through the Scriptures that include faith, holiness, joy, longsuffering, meekness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Those who are “born again” must gradually “grow up again,” and acquire the divine perspective revealed and shared for spiritual maturity:  Believers also must apprehend the active presence of GOD appearing within thousands of lives through thousands of events over the course of thousands of years.

Secular knowledge is often developed and disseminated driven by the animal aspects of human character and its many base motives (e.g., consumerism, covetousness, fear, greed, grudges, materialism, pride, and even self-destruction).  As a result, the outcomes and products of increased information proliferate human error; endorse spiritual ignorance; prolong a lower quality of life for mankind experienced as an exaggerated focus upon death, the weakening of commitment, honor, personal integrity, and trust; and increase the sense of continual imprisonment within cycles of despair and frustration.  Consider how some of this appears stated in the language of the Bible:

(1.)  Ecclesiastes 1:  14-18, King James Version (KJV):  14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.  15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight:  and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.  16 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem:  yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.  17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly:  I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.  18 For in much wisdom is much grief:  and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

(2.)  2nd Timothy 3:  1-5, KJV:  1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,  4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

(3.)  Daniel 12:  2-4, KJV:  2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.  3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.  4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end:  many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

There is far more that could be said, must be carefully examined, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (4.)  2nd Timothy 3:  13-17, KJV:  13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.  14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;  15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Points are shared, today, that expand upon a “caution” against shortsightedness when responding to transgender issues.  A few days ago, I shared an email to President Obama of the United States of America through the White House Website.   The reply I received was a message from the President regarding drug addiction.  Consider the following Note and comment from my Facebook page, and the further discussion below:

Federal Transgender Law?
Michael Andrew Williams—Sunday, May 15, 2016

The following response was just shared at “Yahoo! Answers;” the question and its explanation also is below:

I have begun to consider the demand that transgender children be allowed to participate in the same gym classes and sports teams in schools that receive Federal funds. At some point the issue of shared locker-rooms and showers absolutely must be addressed. Young girls treasure their shared experiences with field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and softball. Adults may easily become “accepting of change and differences,” however, for those in the tentative times for growing up, how do you explain to children that other girls also may have male private parts. (Many mothers may have bathed their boys and girls together in the same tub at ages 3-5; so their girls are not “ignorant” of differences.  Even so, that was “in private” and at home.)  The embarrassment is not simply to the President, his wife, and daughters. The “best minds of the nation” are claiming to have examined the issues and options, and clearly, the same inadequacy demonstrated by the House and Senate in refusing to staff and support the third branch of government (the Supreme Court) has exposed America to the condemnation of the U. N. and the World.  Most tragic of all, where the shabby and ungodly thinking is not put aside, American girls will come to feel totally betrayed by their parents.

Does anyone else feel concerned for their daughters about this whole transgender bathroom issue?

I  have heard that Obama wants all public schools to allow transgender  kids to use the bathroom they identify themselves as. This really  concerns me because I have two daughters, ages 7 and 9. It horrifies me  to know that there might possibly come one day that my daughters might  be in the same bathroom with boys. This really disgusts me very much and  I’m glad Obama’s time is up in office.

What has happened to our country? A president of the United States  allowing people with mental problems to use a bathroom of the sex they  identify themselves as? If this does happen, I’m not sure what I’m going  to do because I cannot afford private school. My wife and I are  contemplating home schooling if this really does happen.

Does anyone else share the same concerns as me?

COMMENT:  (Michael Andrew Williams) Some persons responding to the question (posed by Louis) associated the bathroom issue with gender, and threats of rape and sexual assault; however, the issues pertain more to coming of age, emotional, psychological, and spiritual development as well as the acquisition of sexual identity.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For the Lord will not cast off for ever:  But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.  For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.  To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.  To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,  To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.  Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?  Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?  Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?  Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.  Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.  (Lamentations 3:  31-41, KJV)

While there should be little argument and quarrel that current Federal law is adequate to require a determined National effort to respect and uplift transgender persons regarding the use of public restrooms, it may not go without saying that a massive program of re-education also must be established, funded, staffed, and properly implemented that will erase aspects of our existing culture, and multiple layers of process for life and interaction, here.  Transgender children currently have needs for instruction and support that have that will require new focus, and careful attention.  Given there is great diversity for sex education in our many schools (e.g., some beginning as early as age 10, others not until middle school, still others, not until high school or after), home training and preparation must be made reasonably uniform, and brought into harmony with school curricula and programs.  Many parents will have to be re-educated where they are to answer the concerns and questions of their own children.  It sounds “innocent”, at first, to say, “girls may have a penis, too!”  As an academic statement, many can agree with a value that it should not be disturbing or embarrassing to young girls that they may see some of their schoolmates will have the same sexual parts as boys (and vice versa) when required to shower after certain activities in school (e.g., gym class; athletic competition; team practice).  However, at this point, it can not be authoritatively stated at what age children are most able to make this change, or adjustment that is more easily possible for adults.  Available developmental studies that have not focused upon such questions will have to be carefully re-examined, and new studies quickly prepared.

There is far more to be said, understood, and spiritually taken in.  (For example, Be not deceived.  It is a legitimate argument that the public must not become focused upon the money (how bad do you want it?), because the issue of making merchandise of our children (we say, prostitution, trafficking) will linger and taint any benefit or legacy our young would have otherwise received.  Until some of these issues are properly addressed, we should not be surprised to see children insisting upon their own integrity, and “out on strike” against attending their presently “unprepared” schools.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today, growth and progress through sacred knowledge is compared to ideas of evolution and improvement through ungodly belief and worldly knowledge.  Only those who truly understand that their needs go beyond what finite effort may supply continue to hold belief in the things for right knowledge from GOD.  All benefit from divinity is through pre-set process, or exchange and interaction within sacred relationships.  Believers in Christ are to be transformed at his appearing, and are now in a process of being made mature, perfected, and ripened for harvest from the earth.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “Louis” (Level 1 with 45 points, a member since December 11, 2015) posted the following:

If we are living in times of more progress, innovation, and intelligence, then why are there still people in the world who believe in God?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear:  with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you:  and unto you that hear shall more be given.  For he that hath, to him shall be given:  and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.  And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;  And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.  For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.  But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.  And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?  It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:  But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.  (Mark 4:  24-32, KJV)

“Louis”, progress for Christian believers centers upon the fulfillment of a divine plan, rather than on human acquisition of data and information (we say, learning and growth).  Followers of Christ are to understand that experiences and issues for life in a material world are all fleeting, temporal, and do not endure.  Mechanical process for the living is autonomic (e.g., heartbeat, gland secretions) and are not functions either of divine or self will.  Also, sin may dominate awareness and self-will in the living.  With this in view the disciples of Christ repeatedly reject analyses that are carnal, political, and secular, for they shine no light upon right relationship with divinity and the diverse aspects of life we call endemic, fundamental, spiritual, and universal.  Christians study to acquire and correctly apply unchanging knowledge of divine processes including atonement, death, judgment, rebirth, resurrection, repentance, and sanctification.  Through divine law, prophecy and “sacred knowledge” that declare the lasting effects and consequences of attitudes, behaviors, and choice as well as the eternal purposes of Deity, believers are granted direction and foreknowledge that refit created beings and living creatures for eternal life.  Even so, salvation speaks to having access to GOD, and pertains more to operations of divine Spirit than to those of curiosity, intellect, logic, philosophy, science, and technology.  Consider again the admonitions, and instructions from the Bible:

(1.)  2nd Timothy 3:  16-17, King James Version (KJV):  16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

(2.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(3.)  Romans 12:  1-3, KJV:  1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  2 And be not conformed to this world:  but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Because full knowledge of divinity requires commitment with longsuffering and patience, many feel intimidated by the Bible, and deny themselves place with the true believers.  As a result, the holy writings may remain “closed” and “sealed” as if GOD does not want them known.  (For example, (4.)  Daniel 12:  1-4, KJV:  1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:  and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:  and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.  2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Also there is (5.)  Ecclesiastes 12:  11-14, KJV:  11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.  12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished:  of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.  13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:  Fear God, and keep his commandments:  for this is the whole duty of man.  14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.)

Scripture points are shared, today, to distinguish Christian belief and new life from mistaken notions of civilization, evolution, or moral and social progress.  For many, the attack against religious belief continues on the basis of their desire for a higher experience of freedom through self-will.  Yet, within created beings and living creatures, awareness and self-will can be dominated and directed through sin.  Correctly understood, sin opposes the continued existence of sacred law, divinity, and the entire Creation that displays divine order through law.  Finite human tools such as intellect, logic, philosophy, and science have no power to eliminate sin.  Because only divine will is not subject to sin, mankind must turn to provisions from Deity for release and relief from sin, and its effects.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “xanas” (Level 1 with 1 point, a member since April 17, 2013) posted the following:

Moral progress has not been because of religion, but in spite of it.?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;  And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  In whom all the building fitly framed together growth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.  (Ephesians 2:  18-22, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  The Evidence GOD Exists? (09/29/2015); The Preeminence of the Word (08/23/2015); To Err is Human? (07/24/2015); Christ Brought A New Nature? (07/15/2015); An Eternal Plan and Process (07/05/2015); The Decalogue A Moral Guide? (04/15/2015)

“xanas”, for many Christian believers, the focus is not upon concepts of social development, evolution, and progress to establish “civilization” so much as focus is upon permanent change (i.e., eternal life) through divine rebirth that deposits spirit content for a transformation of mankind at the Advent of Jesus Christ.  While “born again” Christians must continue upon the earth meeting the same life challenges as others, they are endowed to operate as citizens and representatives of a kingdom ruled by divinity through sacred law.  GOD is a spirit who operates using “essence” (we say, breath, spirit, utterance, word) that permits created beings and living creatures to exist in intimate relationship as children and heirs of divinity, where the living are more than merely abstractions or material objects.  What it is that mature Christians are to maintain in their living should become clearer as you consider the following points from the holy writings:

(1.)  Hebrews 1:  1-4, King James Version (KJV):  1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,  2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

(2.)  1st Peter 2:  1-3, KJV:  1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,  2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:  3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

(3.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh can not please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(4.)  Hebrews 6:  1, KJV:  1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection:  not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.

(5.)  1st Timothy 3:  16, KJV:  16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:  God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (6.)  Romans 8:  14-17, KJV:  14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  15 For we have not received a spirit of bondage again to  fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today, some points are shared on Christian believers recognizing change and growth within their own spirit.  Believers are to experience great joy for their redemption and salvation along with a profound sorrow for sin.  Some, in error, think that being spiritual means having a certain feeling.  Others err thinking their focus can be upon showing a positive attitude, religious behavior, and good works (e.g., church attendance, debating doctrine, charitable giving, handing out tracts, serving meals to homeless).  Those in Christ are cautioned against emotion, introspection (i.e., morbid focus upon ones own failures, faults, and sins that tends to depression and self-condemnation) as well as against self-justification and self-promotion.  While parents, pastors and other clergy, and fellow-believers are to be sources of comfort and spokespersons from GOD to the believer, none are to be taken as “heroes” and idols to be copied without prayerful consideration (many say, question or pause).  The writer at “Yahoo! Answers” using “Counselor For Lost Souls” as an ID (Level with points, a member since June 10, 2013) posted the following:

How can you measure your spiritual progress?

THE GOLDEN ARROW;  For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves:  but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.  (2nd Corinthians 10:  12, KJV)

“Counselor For Lost Souls”, here are a few ideas from a Christian believer’s point of view:

(1.)  Progress may be understood as positive change, growth, and the achievement of balance and wholeness as well as ones satisfaction with movement toward their own goals.  For followers of Jesus, many principles and fixed standards are in place to guide those born again in becoming mature (we say, perfected) after the model of Christ.

(2.)  Believers may not “grade their own report card,” so to speak; and the new life in Christ is not one of “do as you please.”  (Every believer is to do as pleases GOD.)  While believers are to learn together and share sacred knowledge, believers are not to compare themselves to one another, nor emulate others as the perfect example.  (This includes figures from the Bible such as Moses, David, Solomon and the Apostles.)

(3.)  Christians enter into an extended process of permanent change and transformation that must be carried out and completed by the imparted Spirit.  Included are confession, bonding with those of the body, rebirth, repentance, and sanctification.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (4.)  For most of us, the process of new life in Christ appears as one of both learning and un-learning at the same time.  New patterns of behavior and thought are to be acquired while old patterns are eliminated, removed, and suppressed.  Growth as a believer can be gradual and subtle (i.e., marked by barely visible differences; having hidden and difficult to recognize shifts in meaning and value).  Thus, faith, persistence, perseverance, and trust are vital.  The transformation begun upon the earth in water baptism will be completed at the coming of Jesus.  As they are taken up to meet the Savior in the air, those who are committed and prepared to share eternal life as his companions and joint-heirs will be made immortal and incorruptible.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
