Today, responding to parental demands and dependency are topics.  Those who need us force us to search within to discover and apply hidden strengths and possibilities we otherwise would not call forth.  Even so, as adults, many of us become delinquent in sharing with our parents, and may use the excuses, I wanted to give you something, but I had to give it to my spouse; I had to give it all to my children; I had to give to it to the church (a free-will offering; a gift; Corban).  Even where siblings do not agree, and the responsibility for attending to ones parents seems to fall on a single person, there should be no division, or ill-feeling on the basis of how little or how much one may provide to their parents.  The single giver must be steadfast, and serve as an example to the others.  At some point, both children and parents have to acknowledge that life experience on the earth is filled with challenges and frustrations for everyone, and to have peace within the home and the family, we must avoid using one another for “punching bags” and targets for anger and malice.  The writer in the “Yahoo! How can I honor my mom in God’s eyes?

’m 27 and while growing up my mom would lie, call me ugly, put me out as a teen. She really tore me up. Since growing up I’ve tried to be at peace with her but it’s weighing me down. She never admit her wrongs. But every single time she calls me it’s about money. Every time I see her it’s about money. At the end of the day all of that money adds up and it’s the fact that every time I see my mom money comes up. She’s married and her and her husband lives with friends. She hasn’t worked since I was probably 15. I can see her she’ll need gas money, phone bill paid, food to eat, bills paid. Then the next day it’s someth else then so on. She’ll call nonstop and text while I’m working saying it’s an emergency and call her I’d call and she’s asking for money saying their car broke down or needs an tire. She lies about her health to get money, just anything. If I buy anything for my self I have to hide it. I live with my Dad and his wife at the moment but thinking of buying a home in a different state just to get away and catch a breath. She’ll go as far to ask for my change out of my purse. I love my mom but I can’t take care of her as I’m trying to figure life out and take care of myself! Any advice?! I just feel like I need to move away to be happy

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Children, obey your parents in the Lord:  for this is right.  Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;  That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.  And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath:  but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  (Ephesians 6:  1-4, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Adam, Family and Law (07/05/2017); Who Deserves Divine Love? (06/23/2017); Inheritance Must Become Commitment (05/15/2017); The Relationships With GOD? (11/30/2016); Discipline and The Cross (06/16/2016); To Have True Peace? (11/12/2015); Strong Families? (11/10/2015); Family and Beliefs of Children? (08/29/2014); Stories Repeated in the Bible? “lovetolovetolove”, here are some thoughts you may find helpful.  The divine character, meaning, and use of family changes throughout the Bible from the time of Adam to the time of Christ.  The counsels from GOD through the holy writings are difficult to apply given the rules of society and youth cultures today, that emphasize maintaining independence, self-improvement, and self-promotion.  Where the Ten Commandments proclaim a duty for children—particularly the firstborn who is the heir—to “honor” their father and mother, those requirements pertain to establishing a nation to demonstrate the keeping of divine law; creating and maintaining a stable pattern of family inheritance; enduring necessary transfers of land ownership and property rights as well as the resolution of conflicts through the application of law.

The same way parents are expected to endure all the many emotional, financial, psychological, social, and unanticipated challenges associated with childbearing, childrearing, becoming bereaved of ones own offspring, adult children may be required to care for dependent parents, despite that their parents are adult in chronological age.  Minor children may be accounted as a liability and a “burden” because they will live in poverty (i.e., they will have no regular income, no savings, no credit, and no reputation that commends them for employment).

Among Christians, the intimate communication, exchanges, and interaction within the family should be seen as a divine device to draw out, build up, nurture, and reinforce ones developing spirit content imparted from the makeup of divinity.  Included are inseparable aspects of divine fullness (we say, the GODhead; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) such as balance, faith, holiness, hope, longsuffering, lovingkindness, respect, wisdom, and wrath against sin.

Just as their children may be devastated by the breakdown in the personality, the physical independence, or the psychological and spiritual strength of their loved ones, parents may become argumentative, bitter, depressed, combative, frightened, and confused.  Many have undergone abuse and damage during the time their child was growing up that they kept hidden and secret away from their little ones.  There is a broad range of discoveries, healing, new learning, continuing growth, and genuine love that still must come into their view.  The way a parent may treat their child includes a trust to show their own inner darkness they would never show outside of the family.  The parents are not betraying their child so much as they are providing for their further maturity through the life plan of GOD, and pushing their offspring to new levels of apprehension and grasp that otherwise would be missed.

In the same way, try as they might, parents often miss their own mark for seeking to help and protect their sons and daughters, children often miss the mark as caretakers for disabled, elderly, and impoverished parents to such an extent, they all must depend on outside resources such as government aide, professional homemakers, and assistance programs.  Even so, a child continues to honor their parent by operating with godly discipline, firmness, forgiveness, love, mature counsel, respect to the adult independence and personhood of their parents, restraint, and sticking to a budget for their giving as well as their spending.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible; “Corban” is a vow; money promised to the temple treasury that could be used for secular projects:

(1.)  1st Timothy 5:  1-8, King James Version (KJV):  1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;  2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.  3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.  4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents:  for that is good and acceptable before God.  5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.  6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.  7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.  8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

(2.)  Mark 7:  5-13, KJV:  5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?  6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.  7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.  8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups:  and many other such like things ye do.  9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.  10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:  11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.  12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;  13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered:  and many such like things do ye.
There is far more that should be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (3.)  1st Peter 2:  19-25, KJV:  19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.  20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.  21 For even hereunto were ye called:  because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:  22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:  23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:  24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:  by whose stripes ye were healed.  25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (see John 14:  6, King James Version (KJV).

Today, reply identifies some truths to live by from the Bible.  Where young people traditionally have  lived by the rules of “wine, women, and song” such changes as cocaine, gun violence, and opioids now appear along with “live fast, die young, and leave a good-looking corpse.”  In addition to guidance through sacred law, praises to GOD, and prophecies revealing divine intent, the holy writings include instruction and godly councils from parables, proverbs, and reports that may be applied to maintaining balance, prosperity, and stability in ones own lifestyle and daily routines.  The writer at “Yahoo! As Christian, what are some important truths to live by taught in the Bible?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.  And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?  And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness:  for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.  (Luke 12:  13-15, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Standards For Godly Behavior (02/01/2018); Fear Them Not Therefore (12/29/2017); Christian Beliefs About Sin (07/20/2017); GOD Appearing As Word (01/14/2016); Growing Up Again? (12/09/2015); Skipping Church A Sin? (11/17/2015); That We Might Know (01/07/2014)

“2FollowHim” consider the following:

(1.)  Numbers 23:  19, King James Version (KJV):  19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:  hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

(2.)  Numbers 30:  2, KJV:  2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

(3.)  Romans 13:  8-9, KJV:  8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:  for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.  9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

(4.)  John 4:  23-25,  KJV:  23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:  for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  24 God is a Spirit:  and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

There are many more verses and passages that could be cited.  (For example, (5.)  Matthew 12:  35-37, KJV:  35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things:  and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.  36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Life and Death

Today, topics include breaking New Years resolutions, keeping ones promises, and Christian believers always speaking the truth.  Ones words and speech may bear fruit (produce) such as comfort, encouragement, sacred knowledge, and wisdom; and ones misuse of words as gossip, hate, lies and slander can result in death, misery, self-destruction, and suffering.  Many followers of Jesus Christ regard “New Years” resolutions to be a departure from sacred commitment, discipline, and practice.  Swearing on oath, making promises, and making verbal contracts and vows always imply that specific goals for change and progress can be met relying on self-will and responses to conditions that are carnal, material, secular, and social.  A fighter in the “Yahoo! Answers” forum who used the ID “levi” (Level 1 with 75 points, a member since March 17, 2016) posted the following:

Does god or Jesus get mad if we break our New Years resolution? If so how can I make him unmad?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.  It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.  A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.  A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.  (Proverbs 18:  4-7, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Free Speech in Church? (12/18/2017); Actual Utterance From GOD? (08/11/2017); Divinity Must Be Proclaimed? (05/09/2017); Should Christians Cuss? (04/17/2015); A Slip of the Tongue (09/17/2014); Which Things We Speak (09/18/2014);  Freedom of Foul Speech (09/10/2014); Dating and Worship? (09/11/2014); All Lying Forbidden? (03/04/2014); Wrong Not to Forgive? (03/05/2014)

“levi”, breath, utterance, and Word are spirit substance that makes known the active presence who is GOD.  Therefore, the place of commitment, the giving of ones word (we say, promise), and the speaking of truth have special meaning and value among mature Christian believers.  Believers are to be the “voice of GOD on the earth.”  The respect we show the Creator should also appear as we deal with our brothers¾particularly when they are at fault and in error.  As those who are “born again” continue to “grow up again”, accepting permanent changes in their own character, makeup, and sacred content, many aspects of divine process and revelation become increasingly clear.  Consider the following points:

(1.)  Utterance and word are divine tools to convey and impart spirit substance from the makeup of divinity.  Included are awe, declarations of love, determinations in judgment, forgiveness, oneness without sameness, personhood, proclamation of law, prophecy, and unseen workings of sovereign will.  Proverbs 18:  21, King James Version (KJV):  21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue:  and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

(2.)  The wrath of GOD against sin is a fixed, immutable, and unchanging aspect of divine fullness.  Divine wrath (burning rage; judgment) is more than merely an emotion or feeling that “comes and goes.”  Psalms 7:  9-17, KJV:  9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just:  for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.  10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.  11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.  12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.  13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.  14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.  15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.  16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.  17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness:  and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

(3.)  Correctly understood, whatever we say, how we say it as well as when and where we say it has power to establish and to destroy meaning, trust, and value that are intended to endure.  Numbers 30:  1-2, KJV:  1 And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded.  2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

Of course, there is far more that could be said.  (For example, words and actions by Christians are to be examined for spirit content from GOD, and received both as “testimony” (words spoken under oath that have the authority and power in judgment because they are “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth”) and “evidence” (just like DNA, ballistics, eyewitness reports, and fingerprints in criminal trials).  Ephesians 4:  29-32, KJV:  29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today, topics include using the Bible in America when affirming oaths of office, and the separation of church and state.  Millions of Americans from every faith will appeal to GOD and make petitions through prayer on behalf of the Nation and its leadership.  Yet, the inauguration to install our 45th President will be a secular ceremony, not an act of anointing, consecration, ordination, or worship.  Affirming an oath is like agreeing to be accountable by signing ones own signature.  Despite “pomp and circumstance,” many mature Christian believers acknowledge the holy writings as a form of the divine presence, and will continue to call forth and evoke other benedictions, sacred blessings and displays of divine power.  Similarly, the gesture of placing ones hand upon the Bible continues to be widely understood as a silent prayer for divine gifts and tools that may include approval, courage, guidance, hope, miracles of order instead of chaos and confusion, prosperity, virtue, vision, and wisdom.  Lawful citizenship for all Americans is a status established by the giving and fulfilling of promises.  Where one makes or swears to an oath, they jeopardy and place at risk their good name and reputation as having honesty and quality.  So to speak, their words are to be validated by the excellence, fruitfulness, and integrity of their unselfish actions and service.  A fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “2017” (Level 7 with 61,448 points, a member since December 25, 2008) posted the following:

Why is the bible used to swear in official things like the inauguration and in courts, when church and state is supposed to be separate?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,  Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.  And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.  For men verily swear by the greater:  and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.  Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:  That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;  Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.  (Hebrews 6:  13-20, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  A Learned Council of Elders? (05/10/2016); World Peace Is Coming? (05/08/2016); From Cover to Cover? (01/04/2016); American Culture and Law? (07/13/2015); Jesus As America’s President? (05/20/2015); God Bless America? (09/12/2013); Law, Slavery and Redemption (09/13/2013)

“2017”, in effect promises and solemn oaths are taken agreeing to forfeit and suffer loss of ones most precious possessions in payment for failure to complete the terms of a contract.  The system of government for America is a Democracy among representatives of the populace (we say, a Republic).  The goal of the Nation’s founders was to fashion a social covenant that would combine and secure the highest known benefits, influences, principles, values, and visions.  While there may be a huge percentage of the Nation’s citizens committed to systems of belief such as Christianity, a constitutional structure is in place to insure balance, fairness, and full participation for all through law.  The church is to always have a presence through the citizens as they exercise franchise being a free people, rather than by operating as a controlling institution.  The social traditions where a person is “sworn in” to serve in government offices, various roles during legal procedures (e.g., expert witness, jury member, translator), and positions that entail continuing trust (e.g., first responders, law enforcement officers, medical practitioners) acknowledges that endorsement and evidence for the validity of a person’s word must come from a higher and objective source, and may not merely be subjective and on the authority of that person’s opinions of himself.   Completeness and integrity for every living creature goes beyond the “gang of three” (i.e., me, myself, and I), and pertains to the absolute sum of their total substance and worth that appears through their acts of self-will), exchange within ongoing relationships, and utterance (we say, breath, life essence, speech, spirit, word).  Described in simple language, we say, A man is as good as his word.  By “good” reference is made to aspects of character and maturity such as accountability, consistency, dependability, honor, nobility, predictability, reliability, righteousness, stability, and trustworthiness.  At the onset of their service, there must be a clear display of a person’s determination to carry out and ethically fulfill the contracts, duties, and obligations of citizenship—even at the cost of their lives.  Thus, their committed and principled conduct will mark and set apart the entire Nation as distinguished and excellent.  Consider again the following:

(1.)  Numbers 30:  2, King James Version (KJV):  2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

(2.)  Deuteronomy 23:  21-23, KJV:  21 When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it:  for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.  22 But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.  23 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

(3.)  Matthew 23:  16-22, KJV:  16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!  17 Ye fools and blind:  for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?  18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.  19 Ye fools and blind:  for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?  20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.  21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.  22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

(4.)  James 5:  12, KJV:  12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath:  but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.

Today, more points are shared on lying, sin, and spiritual growth.  Liars are to be left to GOD along with accusers, apostates, bullies, complainers, boasters, gossips, heretics, incorrigibles, loafers, name-callers, reprobates, scoffers, slanderers, tattletales, troublemakers, and wasters.  All Christian believers are granted a new place in relationship to GOD through Jesus Christ, however, none may maintain their status as sanctified (we say, cleansed, saved and set apart for holy service) where they continue making lies and approving their own errors.  Additionally, believers are granted strength and understanding to endure challenges, delays, disappointments, liars, thieves, separation and death.  Not only are believers to conduct themselves as sons and daughters to GOD, an evidence of things unseen, they are to edify and prosper the household of  faith as spokespersons (we say, prophets) sent by divinity.  Being fashioned as children, believers gradually grow and at the coming of Christ become permanently transformed as immortal, incorruptible companions to Deity.  The word from GOD that nourishes new life has been established as commandment, law, proclamation (we might say, official decrees), promise, and prophecy.  Mankind must maintain covenant, salvation, and eternal relationship by having divine integrity and righteousness that are bestowed as an indwelling Spirit from GOD.

THE BATTLE AXE:  What to Do About Liars? (11/14/2014)

Psalms 116:  9-18, KJV—I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.  10 I believed, therefore have I spoken:  I was greatly afflicted:  11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.  12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?  13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.  14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.  15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.  16 O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid:  thou hast loosed my bonds.  17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.  18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

Deuteronomy 23:  21-23, KJV—When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it:  for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.  22 But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.  23 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a free will offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

Numbers 23:  19, KJV—God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:  hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Proverbs 10:  17-19, KJV—He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction:  but he that refuseth reproof erreth.  18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.  19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin:  but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Ephesians 4:  17-24, KJV—This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,  18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:  19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  20 But ye have not so learned Christ;  21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:  22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ezekiel 13:  7-9, KJV—Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?  8 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.  9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies:  they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

Psalms 59:  7-12, KJV—Behold, they belch out with their mouth:  swords are in their lips:  for who, say they, doth hear?  8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.  9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee:  for God is my defence.  10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me:  God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.  11 Slay them not, lest my people forget:  scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.  12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride:  and for cursing and lying which they speak.

James 3:  8-18, KJV—But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.  10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.  11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?  12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.  13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.  18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Matthew 7:  1-5, KJV—Judge not, that ye be not judged.  2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged:  and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.  3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?  4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?  5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Matthew 9:  10-13, KJV—And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.  11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?  12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.  13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:  for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Ephesians 4:  25-32, KJV—Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:  for we are members one of another.  26 Be ye angry, and sin not:  let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  27 Neither give place to the devil.  28 Let him that stole steal no more:  but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.  29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:  32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

1st Peter 3:  8-18, KJV—Finally,  be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:  9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing:  but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.  10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:  11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.  12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers:  but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.  13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?  14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye:  and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;  15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:  and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:  16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.  17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.  18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Today, points are shared on how GOD is to known, and what it means to speak the name of GOD.  Also, there is more on the philosophy of free will.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “raven” (Level 1 with 100 points, a member since August 18, 2012) posted the following:

In Exodus chap.3 verses 13-15, how do you understand the meaning of God’s name as he reveals it?

why he identifies himself with the god of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob?

THE BATTLE AXE:  The Philosophy of Free Will? (04/08/2014)—(6.)  The term “freewill” appears in the holy writings only to describe offerings that are made as vows and voluntary pledges to GOD as opposed to mandatory or required sacrifices (i.e., losses endured to acknowledge and honor GOD).  Liberation from harsh boundaries and limit’s the living may encounter during their life are also addressed.  Without the intervention of GOD incarnate as Jesus Christ, only through a person’s physical death are humans made free from the conditions for mankind’s existence imposed by mortality and sin.  Baptism establish through the ministries of Jesus allows death of ones inborn spirit, and rebirth having a fresh endowment of the same spirit matter that continues as divinity.

(7.) In the context of correct relationship with GOD, there is no acceptable exercise of self-will (some say, choice, individuality, personal preference) by created beings and living creatures that will continue and prosper sin.  Sin is the name applied to a collection of forces and influences that operate among those made in the image of GOD as an effect of separation from the Almighty by their aspects of independent being, and self-will.  In addition to opposition against GOD that is displayed as ambiguity (we say, internal conflict when presented with multiple alternatives) there may be lack of response to divinity (we say, one is dead in spirit), defensiveness (i.e., efforts to maintain ones coherence and integrity by continuing or increasing separation from GOD) as well as raw defiance, enmity, and resistance.  Coming into perfection (we say, becoming spiritually mature as a living entity, becoming full of the Holy Ghost) requires countless unseen, yet recognizable operations that must be directly carried out by GOD.  The mechanical unfolding of life stages and phases of development are not enough to bring mankind into their highest relationship with GOD.  Nor are applications of finite intelligence, logic, and reason.  This explains why some are “ever learning, never coming into the knowledge of truth.”

(8.)  Political concepts of freedom seek to maximize outcomes and possibilities for human survival by projecting goals and ideals that describe collective and full participation in obtaining and sharing life resources.  Similarly (yet, not in the same way), those who tout free will seek to maximize personal pleasure, the elimination of duty, obligation, and responsibility on behalf of, or within collectives (including pairs).  Arguments for free will are recognized as deception and guile when they employ false assurances to ones own satisfaction while bonding is discouraged along with diversity, good works, oneness (not sameness), solidarity, and unity.  See Genesis 1:  27, Leviticus 23:  37-39, Deuteronomy 23:  23, Psalms 119:  107-109, Romans 6:  6-8, Romans 8:  2 and 7, Galatians 5:  1, James 4:  4, and 2nd Timothy 3:  1-7, KJV.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.  (Proverbs 20:  11, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Lower-case or Capital? (01/31/2014); Sprinkled, Immersed, Named? (02/01/2014);  Jesus Is GOD’s Word (12/28/2013); Alpha and Omega (12/29/2013); Fear & GOD? (12/30/2013); A GOD of War? (03/12/2013); “Authorized Personnel Only” (03/13/2013); How Was GOD Known Before Jesus? (10/06/2012); Jesus, King of Earth? (10/07/2012)

“raven”, here are a few points “at the tip of the iceberg” (so to speak) for Christian believers who truly choose to have a correct and full knowledge of the GOD who has put forth this entire universe:

(1.)  GOD is a spirit and must be known through interactions and operations between and among aspects of spirit matter.  Divinity is not a material object, or anything of physical particles such as clouds, fog, mist, smoke, steam, and vapor.

(2.)  Created beings and living creatures are granted an awareness of divinity as active presence (we say, pure existence).  The “ingredients” or “makeup” of GOD appear to be inseparable spirit matter (where you find one, you find all in various measures and proportion) such as faith, holiness, life, longsuffering, love, righteousness, truth, wisdom, and wrath against sin.

(3.)  Life essence (we say, spirit) is also spoken of as breath, soul, utterance, and word.  GOD may not be named or treated as just another physical object within the emotional, mental and physical spheres of experience for created beings and living creatures.  To utter a “name” of GOD is to establish the active presence of divinity within the sphere of awareness.

(4.)  GOD has used human flesh and material forms to make divinity known (we say, revealed) among sentient creatures.  Jesus Christ is an appearance of GOD in human flesh and mortal life process (we say, Incarnation).

There is a lot more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.)  As finite beings, humans must use the frameworks of time and space to organize all the data of their life experience (e.g., emotions; senses such as hearing, seeing; thoughts).  Fixed points must be identified and maintained for orientation and reference; otherwise, information can not be recovered, there is no recall, and there are no barriers that eliminate confusion.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to the measure of divine faith that resides in you.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.  (2nd Corinthians 4:  3-5, KJV)

Today, the force and importance of obedience to divine dietary laws are considered through a focus upon fidelity in marriage.  Also, there is more on the observance of holidays among Christian believers.  A writer at “Yahoo! 7 Answers” (Australia) using the ID “James Bond” (Level 1 with 113 points, a member since 17 November 2013) posted the following originally asked at Yahoo Answers United Kingdom:

Christians: if god loves you, why does he send you to hell for eating shrimp?

Sillies 🙂

THE BATTLE AXE:  Are Holidays Bad? (11/16/2013)—(5.)  For Christians, holidays should center in comfort, one of the three aspects of divine prophecy along with edification and exhortation.  Even for adult Christian believers, the impact and outcome from hearing doctrine and teaching against celebrations, festivals and holidays rarely appears to be liberation, relief, or a sense of being made free and unshackled.  Believing parents agree that, while it may not be sin or an offense to GOD to use fantasy, humor, make-believe, play and surprise as tools to acknowledge, bond with, encourage, mold, and teach their own children, all must be done carefully in order to be seen properly as primary confidants, reliable protectors, permanent sources of affection and respect as well as genuine providers of needed correction and those endowed with godly authority.  In the same way the mother introduces breastfeeding and later must wean her child from the practice, parents must be accountable for their child’s participation in and separation from celebrations, home activities and social events until their children become independent.  During a child’s development, parental assistance and guidance should be shared to break off the addiction that holidays represent for children through candies, excitement, and sweets.  In their place, parents are to teach discernment and recognizing the spiritual dimensions for meaningful observances.  (6.)  Denied the experiences of others around them during celebrations and holidays, Christians also may feel a sense of loss, and regret as though losing something precious.  Just as there must be a transition from childhood to adultness, believers must also go from play and self-indulgence to unselfishness and the work of ministry.  These must be reminded that the “growing pains” one must endure as a new creature,  born again through Jesus Christ, include that we must endure “godly sorrow” that works repentance.  The practice of observing holidays may continue, however, such should take on greater meaning in agreement with ones maturing spirit content.  Many pollute their observance of Sabbath and holy days effectively erasing their church attendance, devotions, prayer and worship by thereafter seeking amusements, and indulging worldly lusts and passions.  Because they lack discernment that comes only through the Holy Spirit, many fail to see that secular celebrations yield a different fruit than that of holy observances properly carried out and managed along with their subsequent events.  Believers may not ask for or expect the things of society and the world to provide the same joy, peace and satisfaction derived from the gifts given by GOD through Jesus Christ.  Those who do as they please must realize what they do may not please GOD.  (See again Philippians 4:  12-13, 2nd Corinthians 6:  14-18 and 7:  9-11, Titus 1:  15-16  and Jude 1:  17-25, KJV.)

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,  That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.  So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies.  He that loveth his wife loveth himself.  For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  This is a great mystery:  but I speak concerning Christ and the church.  Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.  (Ephesians 5:  25-33, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Animals Do Not Sin? (09/29/2013); GOD is Acknowledging (09/30/2013); Jesus, A Party Animal? (05/03/2013); Henceforth, Of This Fruit (11/21/2012); Unexceptional Beginnings (11/22/2012); Lawful Divorce (11/17/2012); The Faith of Ones Parents? (11/18/2012); A Life Companion? (11/07/2012); On Asking Why (11/08/2012)

Bond.  James Bond.  I’m not usually one to wag the “gold finger,” however, your question seemed to me the same as asking, why would a woman demand a divorce simply because her husband sleeps around with prostitutes.  (Of all persons you should know, the marriage contract emphatically implies no more “odd jobs” and “Pussy Galore”!)  To say nothing of the violation of vows that have been exchanged, there is an insulting threat of impurity and uncleanness against the wife.  The husband’s attack upon her affections and her full-hearted commitment to the relationship cannot be seen as accidental, harmless, or unintended.  While the husband may not be someone who knows all the provisions of civil law to protect a woman in marriage, unless he is totally stupid, he knows his spouse will have grounds for divorce as result of his flagrant lack of self-discipline, and disregard for her wellbeing.

The idea that mankind is to be in an intimate relationship to the Creator has been proclaimed in the holy writings by many accounts and figures.  Included are the spirit and word of utterance appearing as covenant, divine law, praise, prayer, promise, and prophecy.  While mankind receives many freely-given gifts and helps from GOD, it remains there are unchanging standards in place whereby GOD requires faithfulness, holiness, love, purity, respect, and truth that we now receive as an imparted indwelling Spirit from GOD through Jesus Christ.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually understood.  At the risk that you will be merely shaken (not stirred), I advise you to consider the following brief study of Scriptures:  Exodus 22:  31, Leviticus 10:  9-10, Leviticus 11:  43-47, Numbers 15:  38-41, Deuteronomy 23:  14, Psalms 86:  1-3, Ephesians 1:  1-4, 1st Peter 1:  16 and  Revelation 22:  10-12, King James Version.  I trust this fragment will be useful.  Diamonds are forever.  Even so, be it unto you according to your faith.  Jesus is coming soon.  Grow in grace.
